The Mooresville girls tennis team hosted the Mooresville Invitational today at the Pioneers’ courts, welcoming teams from Pike, Martinsville, and Southport to MHS. Pike emerged as the tournament champion, defeating Mooresville 4-1 in the finals. In the opening round, the Pioneers edged out Martinsville 3-2, while Pike secured a 4-1 win over Southport. In the consolation match, Martinsville defeated Southport 3-2. For the Pioneers, #1 singles player Lyla Kaufman delivered strong performances, earning straight-set victories over both Pike and Martinsville. Hadley Miller (#2 singles) and Adilynn Breedlove (#3 singles) each picked up key wins in the first round against Martinsville. With the invitational behind them, the Pioneers improve their overall season record to 8-6. They return to action on Monday, May 5th, hosting Covenant Christian for a 5:30 p.m. non-conference match.
