Mooresville Pioneers Varsity Baseball Wednesday Final: Mooresville Pioneers- 10 Greenwood Woodmen- 2

The Mooresville Pioneers Varsity Baseball Team improved to 10-6 on the regular season and 7-3 in the Mid State Conference with a 10-2 home win over the Greenwood Woodmen on Wednesday evening. Mooresville took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning on a solo home run by Hudson DeVaughan, his second of the season. Greenwood took the lead in the top of the fifth inning, scoring two to to take a 2-1 lead into the bottom half of the inning. The Pioneers offense responded in the bottom of the fifth inning scoring six runs to put Mooresville up 7-2 with two innings to play. Mooresville would add three insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth to secure the 10-2 win. Hudson DeVaughan got the start on Wednesday in game two of the home and home Mid State Conference two game series with the Greenwood Woodmen. DeVaughan went the distance facing 26 Woodmen hitters to get the win. DeVaughan allowed 4 hits, 2 earned runs, walked 2, and struck out 9 in his 7 innings of work. DeVaughan has started 6 games on the mound for the Pioneers in 2025, faced 116 batters, allowed 9 hits, 8 earned runs, walked 19, recorded 50 strikeouts, and has a record of 4-0 in 28.2 innings. Offensively Mooresville collected 7 hits, scored 10 runs, 10 RBI, were walked 6 times, and had 3 strikeouts in Wednesday's MSC win. The Mooresville Pioneers will be back in action on Thursday May 8, 2025 and will host Greenfield-Central, first pitch scheduled for 6:00pm. #mooresvillepioneersbaseball2025
