Friday Night Lights Week 2 Final Mooresville Pioneers- 48 Terre Haute North Patriots- 8 *2025 Mooresville Pioneers Junior Football League Night* The Mooresville Pioneers Varsity Football Team opened the home portion of the 2025 Indiana High School Football Season Friday evening with a 48-8 win over the Terre Haute North Patriots. Mooresville opened the scoring on their first possession of the game as Senior quarterback Connor Cruz hit Senior wide receiver Tyler Denny from 9 yards out (PAT Good- Owen Hopkins) to put the Pioneers up 7-0. Mooresville scored on 8 of 10 possessions in the 40 point win. Offensive Scoring Plays: First Quarter- 9 yard TD Pass- Cruz to T. Denny (2 point conversion Cruz to Beasley) Fourth Quarter- 12 yard TD Run- Cooper Jones (PAT No Good) Offensive Statistical Leaders: Passing Connor Cruz- 19 for 28, 232 yards, and 4 Touchdown Passes (Longest Pass- 53 yards) Rushing Hunter Untersinger- 18 Carries for 56 yards (Longest Run- 16 yards) Receiving Eli Thompson- 4 Receptions for 98 yards (Longest Reception- 53 yards) For the second week consecutive week the Mooresville Pioneers Defense held the opponent under 140 yards in total offense, holding the Patriots to 136 total yards from scrimmage (120 passing and 16 yards rushing). The Pioneers defense forced three Terre Haute North turnovers highlighted by Senior Linebacker Kohen Stevensons 2 interceptions, the second he returned 50 yards setting up the Mooresville offense on the Patriots 1 yard line. Senior Defensive Linemen Ty Montgomery recovered his first fumble of the season capping off a three takeaway night for the Pioneers defense. The 2-0 Mooresville Pioneers will be back in action Friday September 5, 2025 and will host the 2-0 Plainfield Quakers to open Mid State Conference play. Plainfield enters week three with wins over Terre Haute South in week one, 31-7 and a week two win over Lafayette Harrison, 34-27. The week three Mid State Conference opener is scheduled to kickoff at 7:00pm.
